Membership In The Global Academy of Holistic Nursing: Scholars and Associates

GAHN has two categories of Members:
Scholars and Associates
We are a diverse community, working collaboratively to fulfill the Mission of the organization. Each member is respected for the skills and wisdom they bring and valued for the unique contribution brought to GAHN.
Scholars
Scholars of the Global Academy of Holistic Nurses are those who have made outstanding contributions to holistic nursing practice, education, research, or policy; committed to work diligently to actualize the vision, mission, purpose of the Academy; pledged to collaborate, participate. and provide leadership in Academy initiatives and projects, and mentor Holistic Nurse Scholars and Associates
- Distinguished Scholars
Holistic Nurses who are recognized by the Academy for their scholarship as defined below. These members have the right to use the title and credential, Scholars of the Global Academy of Holistic Nursing (SGAHN).
- Honorary Scholars
Individuals who provide ongoing contributions that support and advance the mission of the Academy. These members have the right to use the title and credential, Honorary Scholars of the Global Academy of Holistic Nursing (HSGAHN).
Associates
Associates of the Global Academy of Holistic Nurses are individuals who have skills, talents and knowledge needed to support and facilitate the organizational work of the Academy; pledge to facilitate, collaborate and participate in Academy initiatives and projects; and are committed to work diligently to actualize the vision, mission, purpose of the Academy.
1. Holistic Nurse Associates
Registered nurses, actively licensed and engaged in the advancement of the philosophy, practice, or education of holistic nursing. (GHNA)
2. Holistic Nursing Student Associates
Full-time students enrolled in a nursing program, and either engaged in/or in strong support of the advancement of the philosophy, practice, or education of Holistic Nurses. (GHNSA)
3. Non-nurse Associates
Individuals who actively support or are engaged in the advancement of the philosophy, practice, or education of Holistic Nurses, and have skills, talents, abilities needed to actualize the mission of GAHN (GNA)
Criteria for Recognition as a Member
Global Academy of Holistic Nursing Scholars are:
- Conversant with and expert at integrating the holistic paradigm in their professional lives
- Committed to integrating the pedagogy, ontology, and praxis of holistic nursing within healthcare
- Committed to mentoring holistic nurse scholars
- Committed to the advancement of social justice through the development of healthcare policy, and
- Leaders who advance quality care based in the knowledge, attitudes and skills of holistic health and wellness.
Global Academy of Holistic Nursing Associates are:
- Conversant with the vision, mission, and purposes of GAHN
- Shares GAHN’s Vision of advancing and disseminating holistic nursing scholarship
- Committed to the organizational work needed to advance holistic nursing scholarship
- Committed to share skills, knowledge, and strengths to facilitate GAHNs initiatives and programs
- Brings skills, strengths, Conversant with the mission and purposes of
Expectations of GAHN Members
GAHN Scholars are expected to
- Maintain an active registered nurse licensure and certification as indicated in credentials
- Support and promote the values, mission, goals, and ethics of GAHN
- Provide leadership in committees and roles to fulfill the work of GAHN
- Collaborate and actively participate in GAHN initiatives and projects
- Mentor Holistic Nurse
GAHN Associates are expected to
- Support and promote the values, mission, goals, and ethics of GAHN
- Collaborate and provide support in committees, workgroups, panels, event planning, and other roles required to fulfill the work of GAHN
- Collaborate and actively participate in GAHN initiatives and projects
- Mentor Associate colleagues as

Members Rights and Responsibilities
GAHN Scholars have the right to:
- Receive notice of and attend annual and special Academy meetings
- Vote on the business of GAHN presented at annual and special Academy meetings including revisions to the bylaws
- Participate in development and implementation of GAHN sponsored events and
GAHN Associates have the right to:
- Receive notice of and attend annual and special Academy meetings
- Attend and give voice at GAHN’s annual and special business meetings, including revisions to the bylaws
- Participate in development and implementation of GAHN sponsored events and activities
All GAHN Members have the responsibility to:
- Participate in Academy events and programs
- Maintain good standing, and
- Provide leadership, support, or facilitation in actualizing the Academy
GAHN Scholars have the responsibility to:
- Participate in Academy programs;
- Maintain good standing, and
- Provide leadership actualizing the Academy objectives.
Financial Responsibilities
GAHN is a non-profit organization with 501c3 responsibilities. All donations and fees are used for the work of the organization, including salaries paid to administrative personnel, and expenses incurred to run the programs of the organization. All other Officer, Directors or other Board members and Committee members are volunteers and are not eligible for compensation for their time.
There are three types of financial responsibilities of GAHN Members

- This is a one-time fee, due when you first register. Scholars Feb 1-March 31 annually; Associates Sept1-Nov 30.
- Induction fees apply to Distinguished Scholars only
- Membership fees apply to Associates only
- Renewal fees apply to ALL Distinguished Scholars and Associates
