Elizabeth Kinchen is an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Central Florida. She earned an ASN and BSN from the University of Saint Francis and an MSN and PhD from Florida Atlantic University. Dr. Kinchen focuses her research on holistic nursing as a philosophy and mode of care that considers all aspects of a person’s existence (body, mind, spirit, and environment) in promoting health and healing, and that honors the importance of patient-centered, relationship-based and comprehensive care. Avenues of inquiry include the measurement, exploration, and implementation of holistic care processes and interventions (including for stress reduction and shared decision-making), and the influence of holistic care on healing and health outcomes in patient, community and generalist, advanced, and student nurse populations.
